I've heard that they are a good deal for the money. It is available under several brand names. To put it bluntly, it ain't a Honda, but it doesn't cost like a Honda either.

I've bought several hunderd dollars worth of stuff at HF over the last couple of years. I don't regret any purchase. They have a 6 - hp greyhound engine that's d'bomb and works well for repowering equitptment. Like any low-buck company there are products that are bad out of the box, but that's what the warranty is for. I'd also advise buying an extended warranty for the generator. They usually run $10 to $15, that's saved my cedar end a couple of times.

The only drawback.. it's 2 cycle, some owners report it's loud while others say it's quite for it's size. Go figure. Be prepared for it to surge a bit when not under load and swap out the OEM spark plug for a Champion plug. Keep an extra plug around and some stabilized mixed fuel on the shelf and this little generator should hold up well with a little care.

It's a great value.

I was out on Craigs List last year and bought a "Unknown Brand" generator for $100. I figured what could I lose? I buy lots of HF tools, my garage is full of them. It was the older HF Blue. Is it as quiet or compact as a Honda generator? Nope, but I didn't pay $2500 for the generator. That's a lot of savings put elsewhere.

I used it when I moved into my new/used home on the Pacific Northwest Coast. It's worked fine and I have had no problems with it. It's good to have in lieu of the vicious wind storms that hit this area. I would not hesitate to buy another one. It will be my generator of choice until I get the Prius rigged into the house's power plan.

HF will be having a big sale from Nov 16th thru the 30th. Their prices will be slashed, but I'm not sure whether that will effect the price on the generator in the OP.

Is that a national ad? I didn't see it when looking at my local harbor freight flyer. But then again it didn't list the Black Friday specials. If that is available locally I will do something I have never done before in my life, and be in line early on Black Friday.
