Wasn't sure where to put this so I am putting it here since it has to do with washing clothes..I am looking for some galvanized tubs for laundry. Anyone have an idea where I can get them, other then Lehmans? I am looking for somewhere local (UT or SL County). I have looked at CAL Ranch and didn't see any. Thanks!!

I thought I saw some at Cal Ranch. Must have been somewhere else.

We were there the other day and I looked in the back left corner where they have the different tubs for feeding & water for animals but no galvanized ones. :(

Apparently I have been looking in the wrong area. I just called the AF Cal Ranch store and they have some. She said they are $23.99 for a wash tub size. Yay!! She said they are oval. I was hoping for square but this will work too. And if you want the huge trough size they have those as well! I should have listened to you thermo...after all you between you and your bro you know everything! :)

Allright, I did some research for those who are interested in the galvanized tubs.
CAL Ranch (in AF) $23.99 (didn't get how many gallons) oval or round
Ace Hardware (in PG) 17gallons for $24.99-both are round
IFA (in AF) 12gallons $20.99; 15gal $22.99; 18gal $25.99-both are round

I called Home Depot and Lowes and they weren't much help. None of the ones listed above are square, which is what I really want.

Lehmans 15.5gal $37.95; 18.5 $47.95 (both are square) (not what s/h is)
Bucket Outlet (http://www.bucket-outlet.com/40841.htm) (online) 15.5gal $28.49 square (s/h is abt $25)
Wise Men Trading (http://www.bucket-outlet.com/40841.htm) (online) 15.5gal $35.95; 18.5gal $43.49 (not what s/h is)

Anyway, here are just a few I found. Now to decide if I really do want the square one. However if I get a ringer then the square one will be best. :)

I've never looked for a ringer, but if you get one, let us all know where you got it, and how much they cost. Thanks.

I have the same wringer as skeller. I paid $162 at Gaimans. Expensive, but worth every penny if you have ever had to hand wring clothes. I probably should have looked at ebay. But at least I have one and now no worries.

Just remember that the wringer and the galvanized tubs are purchased separate.

I agree that it will be worth every penny.

Another idea is a Rubbermaid mop bucket to squeeze out the water. A little bit less expensive too.

I also got my james hand washer there. I have already tested it and it is wonderful.

And can be found at your local home improvement store in many cases. Also, in a pinch it can be used to mop up messes. :wink5:

I just mentioned the mop bucket to my husband. He said he investigated that option before getting the wringer. My husband says that the mop bucket doesn't wring the water out sufficiently. This was from comments of others, as well as personal experience mopping floors in stores.

My husband does his research well!

Last summer I purchased a wringer (same one as Lehmans sells) but much cheaper at www.windtrax.com (http://www.windtrax.com) for $110.00. Don't be thrown off by the fact that the website is for carwash supplies!

You'd probably have good luck at a place that sells stuff for horses. We have BigR's here, not sure if they're in Utah or not. Sort of the Home Depot for farmers and ranchers.

You can find galvenized tubs and thick plastic tubs too.

You can buy plastic tubs with rope handles at most hardware stores, that are the same size as the galvanized ones. You can also look for used mop wringers for wringing out clothes.

I am reading old posts that were posted before I discovered GLO and just got to this one. Thought some of you mechanical types with nothing better to do would be interested in this extractor made from an old washing machine and a bike. It is said to do a much better job than a wringer. I have the old washer and bike, now just need to find the mechanical type to make it for me.

Most any of the Farm & Ranch type stores or your local Farm Co-op Stores will have the galv tubs. Cal Ranch 13 locations, D&B Supply 11 locations, Murdochs 20+ locations, Big R Lamar 10 locations. IFA (Intermountain Farmers Association) 23 locations. Also you can try Smith & Edwards in Ogden UT, Smithfield Implement Smithfield UT. This list goes on that I can provide.

You might also try your local Western/Feed stores as well.
