So what is your goal this month besides eating yourself into oblivion on Thanksgiving? We are going to stack the wood in the appointed spot that we have been hauling home from Bugnite's house (took a large tree down). We are also filling up our propane tanks for the winter (we just have BBQ size ones). I am sure the sales before Thanksgiving will have some things we "need" too!

I'm thinking that I need to can a lot of pumpkin in November.
To restock the supplies we used in October. Hubby and I wanted to know if the food I had stored/stockpiled was the right food, so for the last half of the month, the only thing we bought at the store was fresh produce (salad items) and eggs. We used food storage items only. I do like canned stew, chili and soup for breakfast. I feel better during the day too.
Canned salmon, canned minced and chopped clams, clam nectar, rice-a-roni, hamburger & tuna helper, rice & pasta sides, canned chunk chicken, ham, etc.
I have always liked salmon patties and clam patties- now I know that husband likes them too. I add canned chicken or ham to the rice and/or noodles.
Made homemade clam chowder and added some spam to it in place of the bacon. Not too bad at all. Used the canned potatoes for that. Also made chicken pot pie using canned vegetables. EXCEPT don't use canned carrots, they ended up disappearing in the sauce and sweetened it way too much. I'll just drain them, and then mash and eat like squash.
The stores now have evaporated milk on sale- bought 4 cans the last shopping trip. Will get more later. The price will probably go down the closer to thanksgiving it gets. Also need some powdered sugar. Been without that for nearly a year. Unless someone here knows how to "make" it from scratch. Will make a trip south to the Grocery Outlet to get the spam, evap milk and powdered sugar.
Still need my DIY cupboards put together. Having the missionaries over for dinner on Tues. so all the bulk food now is out from under the dining room table and stacked against the walls. Could cover it with a table cloth and put a bowl of apples on top:blush:. instant side table.

Hopefully we'll have freezing weather by Thanksgiving. Then I'll buy 3-4 turkeys to can in January, when the holiday rush is over.
I need to put the beets into cold storage, bring the broccoli and Brussel sprouts in from the garden, mulch my tender herbs, clean up the garden and put it to bed, change the gas and oil on the rototiller and put it to bed. When that's all done, take the tomatoes out of the freezer and make sauce and can it. Hopefully all of that done by the end of the month.

I got the garden put to bed except for digging the potatoes and carrots. I will leave a few carrots in the ground to "find" this winter. I have my herbs drying on the counter since they would have froze this week if I had not harvested them.

Yesterday, we got our "Grey Water" storage containers cleaned out and filled again with clean water. We also purchased a few more blue water barrels for drinking water. We have to get them filled this week. I've been stressing about water lately since we rely on city water and really don't have any other source here at our home in Georgia. We do have a well in Indiana, but the main part our preps are here in GA.
I have also been buying chicken breasts again to get ready for another major canning session. I also want o get a lot more ground turkey and get it canned as well.
With winter coming on I'll be doing more caning of meats - mostly chicken & turkey.
I have a lot of beef already done & I have lots of bacon & sausage in the freezers.
I also have a few bags of products that I cannot take to the storehouse to can and so we borrowed a canner from them over the weekend and our FHE this week will be getting that stuff canned. Tomorrow will be passing out candies to all the kiddo's that come by Trick or Treating though.
I'm sure as the month goes by, there will be other things I feel impressed to take care concerning our preps. I keep praying that Heavenly Father will direct me to know what I need to do to prepare for any future events tah may come. As I get impressions, I incorperate them in what I plan to do.

Already have 3 cans of Heirloom seeds, but picked up a can of Heirloom, Fruit seeds, a couple more cans of freeze dried vegis, and a small counter top butane stove with enough fuel for about 200 hrs of run time.
This just adds to my already over the top cooking preps... I really want to be able to eat hot food.
Already have 55 gallons of Odorless Mineral Spirits for the kerosene stove/oven, 600 lbs of charcoal for the volcano stove and box oven, a Sun Oven (solar oven), 3 rocket stoves, 2 cases of Sterno, etc, etc...

We bought some candy today at Wally World too. I've still got some items I was told to take care of while we were coming home from vacation. Water filter, solar charger for batteries and batteris to go with it. Maybe some more ammo. The new optic for my AR (if that sale will ever start). Most important, win the truck from Cabela's (although this one is completely out of my control).
I always feel put to shame when I read everyone's posts :o10:
My goals are much less glamorous. I am going to finally complete the renos on the bathroom. We have been sharing the 3rd floor bath for months and months. My husband is tired of having to walk a flight of stairs instead of taking a few steps if he has to tinkle in the middle of the night. I'm so very close now that the floor is finally tiled correctly. So I guess my goal is to finally put some of my house in order so we can enjoy the holidays in a spirit of peace rather than contention.

I got back from Wally World earlier today with my extra stash of chocolate candies and 4 cases of mason jars. We put up our white wheat flour in #10 cans, and I'm now working getting the pecans I got yesterday at Costco vacuum sealed and then w will start on the yellow & green split peas. I plan to get them into mason jars as well and vacuum seal them too. I still have to work on the water barrels, but that will be fro tomorrow. So much to do.......

Cami - that is a great goal. We finally finished the family room remodel - yea!! It always takes a lot longer than you think - trite but very true.

I always keep 2 of the old military 5 gallon gerry cans around (full)... just in case.
I've been feeling the urge to have a bit more gas on hand (once again... just in case), so I just ordered 4 more of the same "British NATO gerry cans".
They have a very effective compression cap that totally seals them from air or vapor leakage.

Yep, more kerosene, more gasoline, and more diesel, plus more lamp wicks. We picked up seven 5 gal. fuel containers at a yard sale last week. Found the last two big jars of peanut butter that hadn't gone up in price last night in WalMart, so picked them up for our daughter. (Hubby just pulled three 80 foot rows of peanuts and has them drying in the greenhouse, so we can make our own PB if we want to.)
Still have to find an older gas range to put in our "summer kitchen" on the back porch, and get a large gas tank filled for it.

Caml - that has been my goal too. It's been a tough last few years taking care of my mentally ill brother and now that he left and will nothing to do with us:sneaky2:, I am trying to bring back the peace that he took. We have been scrubbing every room and getting rid of what we can and having as much fun as we can.
We got 2- 65lbs bags of red potatoes and 1 - 65 lb bag of yellow gold potatoes for $20.00 a peace. Home grown with no chemicals.
Harmons had bags of onions on sale and we bought a bunch of those.
Getting ready to do a beef. I figure if we have a freezer full of meat, potatoes, onions, and squash, we can survive anything.
We also got 3 boxes of apples.
Picked the pomegranates and the peppers that are still left on the plants today.
I would like to get a nice dehydrator for Christmas and then I can buy frozen vegetables on sale and dehydrate them for storage.
