I posted this on Facebook and have emailed it out to my Stake Emergency Preparedness Specialist:
I hope this doesn't sound like an alarmist. With the flooding and the destruction of Interstate 15 north of Las Vegas (going towards Utah), I'd suggest making sure your gas tanks are filled up and you have some supplies in your house. Most supplies arrive from California, however some do come from Salt Lake, Denver, and other points east of us.

I-15 will be closed between Las Vegas and Mesquite, NV, for at least 3-days according to news reports. The best alternative route from Salt Lake to Las Vegas is US-93, which is also closed due to flooding. The average grocery store in Las Vegas has 3-days worth of food on the shelf. In other words, if they go not have a truck show up at least once every 3-days, the shelfs will be empty. If 25% of supplies come from Salt Lake, Denver, and other points east and these trucks are unable to arrive in Las Vegas, then there could be food shortages in Las Vegas.

For my Utah friends, the reverse is true. With I-15 closed in Southern Nevada, goods that come from Southern California north into Utah will either not come or will have a long detour through northern Nevada or Arizona. Might be wise to consider a quick supply run.

Most major stores have warehouses nearby with enough supplies to resupply their stores.
