GAZA, June 29 (KUNA) -- Swine flu has been spreading in the Israeli armed forces' ranks at an alarming rate, according to the Israeli daily newspaper and network, "Yedioth A'haronoth." It said on Monday that stringent health precautions had been taken after 20 soldiers and personnel were infected with the A-H1N1 virus, as a result of mingling with young men who had come from the United States.
The network said the soldiers were diagnosed after reporting back to the service, where they infected other personnel.
Military authorities had to suspend scheduled training programs and operations as a result of the alarming spread of the infectious disease in the military ranks.
Israel's Health Ministry has declared that the total figure of swine cases in Israel has jumped to 345, including scores in the army. (end)
