Crystalized jam & jelly......

I know it's okay for honey to crystalize, but I just opened up a jar of jelly that appears to be crystalized. The seal was good - I heard it pop.

I've never seen this before.

Can we still eat it or do we have to throw it out? It's just sugar, so I'm assuming it's okay, but thought I'd check with the experts here first.

Okay, when knowledge is beyond me, the Oregon State extension office almost always has an answer. Good folks over there.

According to the link it's okay to eat the jam. The other jars of jam from that batch were fine - this jar was just older. Huh.
